The Other Guy: Jay Electronica

Oh man this dude is ill. I’ve been listening to him for the past week now and I love his music. He sounds like Nas. Almost a complete replica. His music is different though. It’s like I’m listening to a more complex version of Nas. What’s more amazing is that he even did a tribute to Nas called My World which has the same chorus as The World is Yours. He even produced the opening track “Queens Get The Money” from Nas’s newest album Untitled.

Jay Elect rocks my socks the way…that he looped the soundtrack of Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and rapped over it. No drums. No synths. No added sounds at all. This collection of songs has intrigued me enough to want to watch the movie.

Now I’m stuck. The Eternal Sunshine track makes me want to follow the lead. I want to do the same with my music. It’s inspiring to see a fellow emcee do something never seen before. I’ve gotta stop myself. I need to stick to the Sir Nigel formula, whatever that may be.

If it’s one thing I know, this guy is surely something to look out for.
